I am Carl Dangerfield and I am a candidate for Sheriff of Rowan County for 2026.

I am the only veteran candidate and have more than 30 years of experience in Law Enforcement. I have supervised in several different positions within Law Enforcement as well as in the US Air Force. I have founded owned and operated a successful business for the past 7 years.

I am a husband, father, and have volunteered as a youth sports coach.

I have taught in the Basic Law Enforcement and Detention Officer Certification courses for 18 years. I instruct constitutional law, laws of arrest, search, and seizure, criminal investigations, plus many other topics.

As a member and supervisor of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriffs Office, I led or participated in more than 50 death investigations. Every homicide during my watch was cleared by arrest and successfully prosecuted. This is a fact I am very proud of.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.

Those are the basics of who I am.

I believe the Sheriffs Office is in immediate need for a qualified leader. A leader that understands the financial efficiency and accountability of that office.

A leader that understands the law and how it applies to all of our citizens, and knows how to instruct and supervise all of the Deputies within the agency.

I believe the Sheriffs Office is in immediate need of a leader that understands the proper promotional process for the office, not a good ole boy system where positions of importance are granted by donors, sign holders, those working for my campaign. Promotions based upon merit, earned through a display of knowledge, skills, and abilities to fulfill every position in the agency.

I believe the Sheriffs Office is in immediate need of a leader that is transparent with the citizens, stands up to corruption and outside interference. A leader that believes in collaboration with other Law Enforcement agencies and first responders to properly serve every citizen and visitor to our county.

I believe we need a leader that has prepared in every aspect of Law Enforcement and prepared by managing a private business, a leader that has successfully led people to be successful.

I am that leader and if this election is based upon readiness for this job then I expect to win and be your next Sheriff. If this election is based upon popularity then we will be in the same position we are in currently.
